About the University ๐Ÿซ


University of Southern Queensland's campus in Ipswich is just one of the three campuses in the Australian state of Queensland, the other two of which are located in Springfield and Towoomba.


UniSQ, Ipswich, is a cosy and health science focused campus located about 45 minutes from the metropolitan, Brisbane. Students at the University of Southern Queensland have good opportunities to get involved into academic social clubs and organisations. Social gatherings are often held to increase the familiar community on campus.


Most programme at the UniSQ Ipswich campus are medical programmes, which has been the reason for their large investments in this area. There are both nurse and medical lab facilities for just under 2 million AUD and an ambulance simulator to provide students with practical knowledge. Their fitness area is called The Works Ipswich Health and Recreation Club and is a fully equipped gym that offers personal training and group fitness classes. Membership is open to all students and staff. There are also a number of sporting facilities and courses available for the active students.


Classes are divided into smaller classes for students to achieve a closer community and get the maximum out of their academic learning environment. You can get acquainted with people from all over the world. At UniSQ there are 80 different nationalities due to the wonderful circumstances for international students in Queensland.

Ipswich is centrally located in the thriving southeast Queensland region of Australia, just 50 minutes from Brisbane and an hour's drive from the Gold Coast beach paradise, which also has an airport with highly attractive travel destinations available.

The city offers an ideal lifestyle that combines cultural heritage with a twist of exhilaratingly exciting metropolitan style. It is Queensland's fastest growing city and also home to the youngest demographic population in southeast Queensland. You will meet many people who are peers due to the city's many young students, there is even broad multiculturalism with more than 115 different cultural backgrounds inhabiting the city.


It's not necessary to drive to Brisbane to enjoy free time, Ipswich has plenty to offer. There is a cinema, zoo, art gallery and cosy cafes and restaurants. For those nightlife lovers who like to have a drink at the local spot and enjoy live music and entertainment, studio 188 is many UniSQ students' favorite place to hang out on the weekends.


If you are into natural beauty and after a mindfullness experience, the Hill Conservation Park in Ipswich is the perfect getaway attraction, where in addition to beautiful scenery and views you also get guaranteed a good Instagram picture on the trip. Best of it? It's free.


If you are feeling for more vibrant city life, Queensland's largest city, Brisbane, is just under an hour from Ipswich. Sun, surfing and beach? No problem, you're only about an hour from the Gold Coast.

What is the tuition and requirements for study abroad (exchange) students?

The study abroad (exchange student) programme will often have a different tuition fee and lower entry requirements. In addition, there might be a specific course catalog for study abroad exchange students. Book a call with a Uniclub advisor who will present you the requirements for single semester study abroad students, and how to navigate within the course catalog.

Additionally, you might be able to get exempt from taking a TOEFL or IELTS test as a study abroad (exchange) student. A Uniclub advisor will advise you on which universities have more flexbile English proficiency requirements.

What are the Semester Start Dates?

University of Southern Queensland makes use of a Trimester and Semester calendar system, meaning for both full-degree students and semester abroad students studying to receive credit towards their home degree system. The three-trimester system is equivalent in course load and duration to a semester system. Students can start their studies in February, March, July or September, November. Two trimesters are still equal to a full academic year.

What are the Entry Requirements?

To apply for courses and programmes at University of Southern Queensland, you must meet the general and specific entry requirements.
