About the city 🌇

Under Valencia and east of Andalusia you will find the charming and splendid region of Murcia on Spain's southeastern coastline 'Costa Calida'. Here the sun shines all year round and the region is a top destination for outdoor people due to the well-known hiking and cycling trails. Furthermore, the city feels ancient with its exciting history as well as culturally rich towns, located picturesquely in the mountainous landscape and along the warm coast.

Murcia can entice with its long coastline and scenic hinterland, where there is room for a lot of activities no matter what you are into in terms of outdoor activities. Along the coast, only the imagination sets the limits of activity opportunities. In addition to exploring the many caves and bays, you can of course settle into the sand and jump in the waves.

It also provides kite flying, canoeing and kayaking, and rafting in the region's rivers. If you want to explore the bottom of the ocean, don't hold back in Murcia. The sea around the region is one of the most beautiful in Spain and dive tours are found here plenty of. Up on land, you can go hiking in the mountains in the idyllic surroundings or maybe even go paragliding and enjoy the scenery from the top.

The joy of life in the region is quite unique and locals party at every opportunity. After your classes during the spring, you may be lucky enough to attend the festival 'Bando de la Huerta', where thousands of locals and guests wander around the city dressed in traditional robes. In addition, local food is served in stalls around the city streets. The Easter festival stands out especially among the city's many traditional 'fiestas'.

The gastronomy in Murcia is based on flavorful fruits and vegetables that are typically cooked together with meat in saucepans. Of course, the region's long coast also means that freshly caught seafood is widely spread on the culinary scene in Murcia. Followed by delicious food, you can choose from a variety of locally grown wines from areas such as Bullas, Yecla and Jumilla.

I have just returned from my exchange stay in Ireland, which would not have been possible if it were not for Uniclub. If you are looking for an exchange as a freemover, then I can not recommend UniClub enough!
