About the University 🏫

The London Metropolitan University is a truly dynamic university in the heart of

LMU London Met has approximately 12,500 students enrolled from nearly 140 different

nationalities who flock to this popular university in the capital of England.

London Met allows you to blend in with the locals while making friends from virtually every

continent. This unique combination of quality education and broad networking opportunities has

contributed to the high "employment rate" percentage, which is a whopping 96.7% for graduates

within 6 months.

London Met is home to a number of impressive learning facilities including a world-

leading science centre, a mock courtroom, an interpreting suite, music recording and

television production studios, a radio station and a news and editorial room. The university's

pioneering business incubator also provides valuable support to students striving for success in the

start-up world.

With more sports clubs, volunteer projects and over 50 student societies to engage with,

there are plenty of opportunities to get involved with university life, whether

you do it for the sake of interest or to spice up your resume. In the unlikely event that you can't find

what you're looking for, you can gather a few friends and create your own society.

About the city 🌇

London is a city of both history and modernity from the 21st century - a true hub of the world's cultures and nationalities. With a population of 7 million, 30% of whom are of overseas descent, London is one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the world. Hundreds of languages are being spoken within the city borders.

London museums and galleries rank among the world's finest, and are full of significant elements of European and global history. The monuments from London's glorious past, from medieval banquet rooms to St Paul's Cathedral, stand next to modern wonders such as Tate Modern and the London Eye.

For activities and entertainment, London is in a league of its own. A shopping mecca, the weekend markets of Portobello and Camden offer groundbreaking designs and vintage finds while allowing you to 'splurge' away in the rich and famous department stores at Harrods or Oxford Street. There are hundreds of theatres, nightclubs and bars to choose from, as well as countless British pubs world renowned for their recognizable charismatic look and vibe.

Home to London's West End, Royal Opera House, London Symphony and Royal Albert Hall, London has something for every taste in music. Besides that, it's a paradise for football lovers, where every weekend the sports atmosphere is spiced up. There is ample opportunity to experience big matches in various legendary stadiums.

Contrary to popular belief, London is not necessarily expensive. The city's large student population means that there are plenty of good values to be found, and many shops and attractions that offer student discounts. From Michelin-starred restaurants to Indian buffets with everything you can eat - yes, there are restaurants for all kinds of budgets and preferences in London.

Housing Opportunities🏫

It is much easier for full degree students to find a room for the whole year than it is for semester students looking tostay for 3-4 months. Therefore, we arrange housing for study abroad students ina local hall of residence at which we have an allocation of rooms. If we have a surplus of rooms then these are offered to full degree students.

In the rent you get included The rent includes electricity, heating, water, and Wi-Fi. There are maintenance staff on site during the day and security personnel at night.

London Metropolitan University does not own or manage any on-campus housing, and therefore works with external providers.

What is the tuition and requirements for study abroad (exchange) students?

The study abroad (exchange student) programme will often have a different tuition fee and lower entry requirements. In addition, there might be a specific course catalog for study abroad exchange students. Book a call with a Uniclub advisor who will present you the requirements for single semester study abroad students, and how to navigate within the course catalog.

Additionally, you might be able to get exempt from taking a TOEFL or IELTS test as a study abroad (exchange) student. A Uniclub advisor will advise you on which universities have more flexbile English proficiency requirements.

What are the Semester Start Dates?

London Metropolitan University uses a semester system for both full-degree students and semester abroad students studying to receive credit towards their home degree system. The semester system is equivalent in course load and duration to a three-trimester system. Students can start their studies in January or September.

Full degree tuition fees for EU passport holders (who have been resident in the EU for the 3 years

preceding the start date of the course) at London Metropolitan are the same as for Home (UK)

students. There is an

EU Transition scholarship

available at both bachelors and masters level.

‍The tuition fee for a study abroad semester at London Metropolitan University for 4 modules,

which  equates to 30 ECTS, is 7176 GBP for the 2024/25 academic year.
