Studying abroad can be a great adventure, but it can turn out to be frustrating. To avoid this, it's worth thinking about if studying away from home is something for you. This blog post will help you answer following questions: Is it worth studying abroad? Is studying abroad for me?

‍

Advantages

Independence πŸ’ͺ βš–οΈ - Studying abroad is the ultimate lesson in independence and preparation for adult life. Sounds serious? Nothing could be more wrong! Thanks to the experiences, you will gain self-confidence and develop a conviction that you will always be able to cope with what awaits you.
‍‍
Improving your language skills 🧠 πŸš€ - Through learning in a natural environment and the opportunity to talk to native speakers, you have an amazing opportunity to develop your language skills. Some time abroad will give you way more than a few years of studying a language in school will ever give you. Believe us!

‍

Traveling πŸŽ’ ✈️ - Going to university is already a big step towards an international adventure, but certainly not the last one. By moving to another country (or to a different continent!), You will have a unique chance to get to know a given place better. Life with a packed backpack will become your everyday life. You won't let go of any adventure!

‍

Gaining international acquaintance πŸ’ƒ Β - You will meet people from the farthest corners of the world every day. Let's be honest, it's more than just expanding your network of contacts. These people will be next to you in the most wonderful and difficult moments during your trip. This is how friendships for life are born.

‍

Cultural exchange 🌎 πŸ’Ž - Being in an international environment will give you an amazing and unique opportunity to immerse yourself in a multicultural world. You will learn the customs and traditions of not only the country where you live, but also new acquaintances. Better than watching National Geographic!

‍

Greater educational offer πŸ“ πŸŽ“ - When you go to study abroad, you will have access to programmes and methods of teaching that are not necessarily available in your home country. It is also an opportunity to learn from outstanding world specialists! What could be better than going to classes with people who teach with passion and commitment?

‍

Tailored curriculum πŸ“š 🎯 - Studying abroad gives you freedom and independence in deciding your own education. You can freely choose courses, match them to your interests and have a real impact on absorbing important, useful content. Development above all!

‍

Easier entry into the labor market πŸ“ˆ πŸ₯‡ - The prestige of the university will certainly pay off in the future. When you look for a job, recruiters will not miss the information that you were educated in another country. This is a big plus! A diploma from a foreign university opens many doors and allows you to apply for positions that may remain dreamlike for others. Thanks to this you will find a dream job.

‍

Mental Strengthening πŸ™ πŸ”‹ - Studying abroad will also affect your mental health. You will learn tolerance, set your own limits and you will learn how to become resistant to stress. A few years abroad will make you not only a titan of work, but also an extremely strong and empathetic person.

Disadvantages

Longing for your family πŸ’” Β  - No matter how close you are to your family, you will miss your parents, siblings, grandparents, and even your aunt. There is no need to hide this part, leaving will be a difficult matter emotionally. Moving to another country is stressful, and the fact that your loved ones are x kilometers away from you doesn't make the process any easier. Remember, however, that in the age of the Internet and digital technologies, you are just one click away from hearing and seeing your loved ones. Huge plus!

‍

Big change πŸ’‘ βš™οΈ - Some people love the moments in life when something changes, others take them worse and that's okay. Not everyone is destined to live a life devoted to new challenges. You have to consider how you react to big changes. This excitement gives you energy or, on the contrary - paralyzes you? Remember that you don't have to prove anything to anyone. The trip should be a joy for you. And if not a full degree abroad, maybe a year or a semester abroad? Much less time away and easier to bear change.

‍

Acclimatization 🏠   - Moving is one thing, but finding yourself in a new place is something completely different. You can be the king of parties, a social stallion among friends, and you will still need time to fully settle in. For some people this moment lasts a week, for others a month, and for some it may take a few months. Take time to explore everyday life, adapt to a different lifestyle, and develop your own routine.
‍‍

Making friends in a new place πŸ”Ž πŸ‘₯ - You will be surrounded by young people, so it seems that there should be no problem with making friends. Well, if you are not daring, you are embarrassed by gigantic events, you may need more time to make friends. Cultural differences can also be an obstacle to getting to know people freely. Even so, remember that you are all "in the same boat", so it is more than certain that more than one person will have a hard time making friends. So let's be open and approach each new relationship with a smile.

‍

Costs πŸ’Ά πŸ’Έ - Unfortunately, scholarship(s) doesn't always cover all expenses, so you need to have your savings. After all, there are many opportunities to get funding. If you want to know more, schedule an appointment with us. Before leaving, it is also worth doing a decent research on accommodation and the costs of everyday life, so that you know more or less what to expect. Use a tool like Numbeo for that.

‍

Language barrier πŸ—£ πŸ”“ - We all learn at least one foreign language from an early age, but it does not guarantee free communication anyway. You can know grammar very well, and get stuck in the first conversation with a native. It can be stressful, but you shouldn't succumb to this paralyzing feeling. Talk to people! Make mistakes! This is how you learn the language!
‍

Studying abroad will be an amazing adventure

‍
Is it worth it? Surely! Will it be difficult? Undoubtedly. However, in our opinion, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages by far.

Of course, it is difficult to make a decision about studying abroad due to the overwhelming amount of information, the multitude of opportunities and the pressure of the family and the environment. Let us admit it clearly - no one at the age of 19 has a defined path in life. So how can you be sure that studying abroad is a good idea? You can never be 100% sure. But it is out of curiosity about the world that the greatest memories are created. If you are teen, you are only at the beginning of your journey, and how can you better enter adult life than with your mind open to new adventures?
